As you probably recall from my last post, I have not contributed to my blog as much this year; and some of you might be wondering whether or not I completed the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) degree.
So, again, thanks for being understanding and taking the time to read the following long update and review about Quantic.
My Recap
When I started pursuing my EMBA degree in late 2018, the Quantic program was called Smartly; and at that time, the online business school was not accredited yet. As a result, there were many objections that question the worthiness and credibility of the e-learning company’s MBA.
However, I still decided to attend Quantic; and please refer to my previous post – “The Quantic Choice” – for my reasoning.
My Update
So, around one year later, I am happy to announce that I graduated with my EMBA; and shortly after receiving my degree, the program received accreditation and changed its name from Smartly to Quantic!
My Review: The Good
In general, I really enjoyed my Quantic experience. However, the concepts did not really come together for me until the capstone project, which involved creating and presenting the business plan.
As I worked on my business plan, one light bulb after another started to shine; and my ability to talk about my business improved. Furthermore, I was more aware about my vision, goals, and business strategy.
Lastly, but not least, I graduated from Quantic with a better appreciation for the complexities of marketing and with enhanced confidence in my accounting knowledge. Although I can successfully do my own book-keeping with the help of a friendly book-keeping program, I still ask my tax professional for advice; and he still double-checks my reports, such as income statement.
My Review: The Room for Improvement
So, although I am grateful to Quantic, I objectively believe that there is room for improvement. Please refer below.
Quantic’s Focus
Many of Quantic’s examples throughout the modules are focused on product-based businesses. As a result, if you have a service-based business, you will need to extrapolate some of the examples.
Specializations
Some of the specialization modules, such as “US Business Law” and “Startup Entrepreneurship,” primarily benefit students, who have not created their own businesses yet. Although the information is useful for students, I wished that these sections could touch on laws and entrepreneurship topics that are more relevant to founders – whose businesses are within their first year of infancy.
My Studying Tips
While participating in Quantic’s EMBA program, I usually followed the suggested studying schedule before taking the exams. If possible, however, I would recommend trying to study ahead of the suggested schedule. In doing so before the exam, you would have the chance to review the study material at least a couple of times to help you better cement the concepts in your mind.
Lastly, but not least, consider completing the capstone project or business plan by yourself. You will have the opportunity to interact with your classmates on other projects; and you can also chat with classmates on Slack or through book club meetings. Furthermore, you can attend events throughout the world to network with classmates and alumni.
However, if you are a kinesthetic learner – like I, then the concepts will not make sense until you take the time to write your own business plan.
My Recommendation
As mentioned earlier, the Quantic EMBA experience has some room for improvement. Please keep in mind, however, that I graduated in November of 2019; and Quantic is constantly updating its content and enabling alumni to have access to its platform for future reference.
Furthermore, I want to emphasize that I still recommend the program! I am able to apply what I have learned from Quantic; and I strongly believe that my business and I are heading in the right direction because of my EMBA degree.
So, if you were sitting on the fence about Quantic School of Business and Technology, I hope that you found this review helpful.
